Security Council
It is an executive body in the political arena. The 5 permanent members of the Council, the USA, China, England, France and Russia, have veto power. The 10 temporary members are elected for a two-year period and 5 of the temporary members are renewed every year. The temporary membership begins on January 1 and ends on December 31 of the following year. Geographical balance is taken as a basis in its elections.
